LAHORE – August 6, 2025:
Punjab is all set to mark Minority Week with a series of events celebrating religious harmony and cultural diversity, beginning Thursday, August 7. The week-long celebration will continue till August 11, featuring interfaith activities across the province.
The festivities will kick off with a symbolic double-decker bus convoy departing from the historic Cathedral Church of Pakistan at Regal Chowk, Lahore. The event, organised by the Punjab Ministry for Minorities Affairs, aims to spotlight the shared heritage of different religious communities in Pakistan.
Chairing a preparatory meeting, Provincial Minister for Minorities Ramesh Singh Arora said,
“Minority Week is not just about celebration — it’s a reminder of our commitment to inclusion, respect, and peaceful coexistence.”
In addition to the ceremonial start, a plantation drive will be launched as part of the opening event, underscoring the importance of environmental responsibility alongside social harmony.
The colourful bus convoy will make stops at prominent religious and historical landmarks including Krishna Mandir, Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Badshahi Mosque, and Iqbal’s Mausoleum, offering a symbolic journey through Punjab’s pluralistic past and present.
The week’s highlight will be a grand interfaith gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan, where community leaders, religious scholars, students, and citizens from all walks of life will come together to celebrate unity in diversity.
