A barber shop in Karachi’s Baldia Town turned into a scene of fear and chaos when an armed robber barged in and held everyone at gunpoint, police said on Thursday.
According to officials, the lone gunman walked into the shop confidently, waving a pistol as seen in CCTV footage that later circulated widely on social media. The customers and barbers froze, sitting down immediately as the armed man ordered them not to move.
The robber then went from one person to another, frisking each individual and collecting mobile phones, wallets, and cash before escaping. Investigators believe an accomplice may have been waiting outside on a motorcycle to facilitate the getaway.
Police have launched an inquiry and are working to identify the suspect through CCTV recordings and other evidence.
In a separate incident on November 26, Karachi police arrested a driver, Dawood Khan, accused of demanding Rs8 million in extortion from his employer in the Malir Cantt area. Officers tracked him down using technical surveillance, and the suspect reportedly confessed during questioning. Police say efforts are ongoing to determine whether others were involved.
