KARACHI – Residents of Karachi are set to face a temporary water shortage on Thursday as K-Electric carries out a 12-hour shutdown at the Dhabeji Substation and Grid Station for annual maintenance. The power suspension will last from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, affecting several feeders connected to the Dhabeji pumping station.
A spokesperson from the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) said that the maintenance work is expected to reduce the city’s water supply by approximately 100 million gallons. The areas likely to be affected include Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal, DHA, Chanesar Town, Jinnah Town, North Nazimabad, and Gulberg Town.
Despite the temporary shortfall, Karachi is expected to receive around 550 million gallons of water, as the city’s total daily supply averages 650 million gallons. KWSC has urged residents to use water conservatively and make necessary preparations to cope with potential disruptions during the maintenance period.
Authorities stressed that the shutdown is a routine measure to ensure long-term stability of power and water services, and residents are advised to plan accordingly.
