PM Shehbaz Orders World-Class Standards for Jinnah Medical Complex

ISLAMABAD – August 6, 2025:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed authorities to ensure that the upcoming Jinnah Medical Complex is built in line with international standards for specialized healthcare. Chairing a high-level review meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday, the Prime Minister emphasized that the complex must serve as a state-of-the-art facility catering to patients from across Pakistan — including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Highlighting the importance of national cohesion, the Prime Minister directed that various blocks of the hospital be named after the provinces to reflect unity and inclusivity. “This is not just a hospital; it’s a symbol of our national resolve to provide equal and quality healthcare for all,” he said.

Stressing the need for transparency and merit at every level, Prime Minister Sharif ordered that both construction and recruitment processes be strictly governed by these principles. He also mandated third-party validation to maintain high standards throughout the development.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Syed Mustafa Kamal, Health Coordinator Dr. Mukhtar Bharath, and Professor Dr. Saeed Akhtar of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI). The participants reviewed progress on key project milestones including land acquisition, board formation, and the finalization of the hospital’s conceptual design all of which are reportedly nearing completion.

Additionally, the Prime Minister instructed the concerned authorities to present a detailed strategy for strengthening Islamabad’s primary and secondary healthcare systems. This, he noted, would help alleviate pressure on tertiary care facilities and improve access to early-stage medical services.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism that the Jinnah Medical Complex would exceed expectations and emerge as a flagship healthcare institution in the region.
