JUI-F Peace March to Cause Road Closures in Karachi Today

KARACHI — The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) Sindh is set to stage a peace march and public gathering in Karachi today, prompting the city’s traffic police to issue a detailed plan for road closures and diversions.

According to party officials, the rally led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman will make its way into Karachi from Thatta via Ghaggar Phatak before heading onto Shahrah-e-Faisal, where the JUI-F chief is scheduled to address participants. The march began in Kashmore on September 14 and will conclude with today’s gathering in the provincial capital.

In anticipation of large crowds, Karachi Traffic Police confirmed that several key routes will remain closed. The road from Shaheen Complex to Fawara Chowk will be shut down, while vehicles from Ziauddin Signal will be redirected towards Club Chowk and Shahrah-e-Faisal.

Traffic heading from Shaheen Complex to the Press Club will instead be diverted to PIDC and Shahrah-e-Faisal. Similarly, vehicles moving from PIDC will be rerouted towards Awari, and traffic from Rex Center to Fawara Chowk will be allowed to move only via Awari or Clifton.

Additional diversions include redirecting traffic from Chhatri Chowk to MR Kiani Chowk towards SM Law College, while vehicles from Ahle Hadith Chowk to MR Kiani Chowk will be sent towards Liaquat Street.

Authorities have urged commuters to plan ahead and use alternate routes to avoid congestion in central Karachi as the JUI-F rally proceeds.
