Government Moves to Regain Control of Shrines

RAWALPINDI — The Auqaf Department has decided to take legal action to reclaim state-owned shrines in the Rawalpindi Division currently under private control.

There are 11 shrines in this category, with land worth billions and monthly revenue in the millions. The department plans to recover these assets and their income.

Secretary Auqaf and Chief Administrator Dr. Raza Bukhari expressed dissatisfaction over the failure to meet revenue targets and recover properties despite repeated directives.

Rawalpindi Circle Manager Raja Yasir Latif has been suspended and transferred to Lahore, with Iftikhar Silaria appointed as his replacement.

During a surprise visit, the administration criticised poor performance, particularly in regaining control of Darbar Masoom Shah, Darbar Dhoke Khalu, and Darbar Rode Shah.

The revenue target for the zone was Rs18.6 million, which was missed.
