Cattle Trader Set Ablaze Over Debt Dispute

DIJKOT — Four suspects, including two brothers, allegedly set a cattle trader on fire over a debt dispute, leaving him with severe burns.

According to a police report filed by the victim’s wife, Parveen Bibi, her husband Mushtaq alias Makha was owed Rs107,000 by suspects Qamar and Hamid and their accomplices.

On August 3, Mushtaq went to their village to collect the payment. The suspects allegedly tried to force him to sign a blank paper and give a thumb impression related to another breach of trust case against him at Garh police station.

When Mushtaq refused, they reportedly poured petrol on him and set him on fire. He was rushed to a Rural Health Centre, then to the burn unit at Allied Hospital.

Police have registered a case under sections 336-B and 337-L1 PPC and are conducting raids to arrest the suspects.
