Dar Meets Malaysian Prime Minister, Reaffirms Strong Bilateral Ties

    PUTRAJAYA – July 12, 2025: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Friday, during the sidelines of the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting, reaffirming Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen ties with Malaysia.

    In the cordial meeting, Dar conveyed a message of goodwill from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and lauded Malaysia’s leadership as Chair of ASEAN for 2025. He expressed confidence that Kuala Lumpur’s stewardship would play a key role in advancing regional cooperation and mutual understanding among member states.

    The discussion focused on shared priorities, including trade, investment, and collaboration in multilateral forums. Both sides acknowledged the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Malaysia and agreed on the need to build upon existing partnerships across various sectors.

    Later, Foreign Minister Dar also held talks with Cambodia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn, on the margins of the ASEAN meetings in Kuala Lumpur. The two leaders discussed avenues to deepen diplomatic and economic relations between Pakistan and Cambodia, with a shared emphasis on connectivity and regional development.

    Dar’s engagements at the ARF highlight Pakistan’s renewed focus on building robust ties in the ASEAN region, as Islamabad seeks greater economic integration and political dialogue with key Asian partners.
