LAHORE: Four major housing projects in Bahria Town Lahore have been left without electricity after the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) disconnected their power supply due to unpaid bills exceeding Rs. 682 million.
LESCO officials stated that despite repeated reminders, the housing projects failed to settle their outstanding dues, forcing the company to take strict action. The unpaid amount had accumulated over a long period, prompting the disconnection.
Residents have expressed frustration and concern over the sudden outage, stating that they were not informed beforehand. Many families reported severe difficulties, particularly those with children, elderly members, and patients who rely on electrical appliances.
In response to the blackout, residents plan to stage a protest outside Bahria Town offices after Friday prayers. They claim that they regularly pay electricity charges to the housing administration and feel it is unfair to face hardships due to the management’s failure to clear dues.
LESCO CEO Muhammad Ramzan Butt confirmed that power will only be restored once all outstanding payments are fully cleared. The company emphasized that multiple warnings had been issued, but no action was taken by the management to resolve the issue.
The situation has raised concern and uncertainty among residents, who are demanding transparency and swift action from Bahria Town authorities to restore normalcy in the affected areas.
