Army Launches Helicopter Rescue Operation for Tourists in Deosai and Babusar

SKARDU – The Pakistan Army has launched a helicopter-based rescue mission to evacuate tourists stranded in the Deosai and Babusar regions. Helicopters are transporting people to safer areas while army engineers work to clear blocked roads.

The Skardu Road, previously blocked due to landslides, is under active restoration by army teams. The section between Skardu and the Sadpara Mountaineering School has now been cleared, and the route from Deosai to Sadpara village is once again open.

Troops are also distributing food and other necessities to tourists still trapped in remote zones. Around 150 ready-made meal packets have been delivered by air.

On the Babusar route, airlifts have safely evacuated several stranded travelers. So far, 15 helicopter trips have transported individuals to secure zones.

Personnel from both the Pakistan Army and the Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts are on the ground, offering medical aid and food supplies. Heavy equipment is being used non-stop to clear debris and restore access.

Efforts to reopen Babusar Road and the Karakoram Highway are ongoing, with teams working around the clock. Search operations are also underway to find missing persons in remote mountainous areas.

The fast response and professionalism of the military and rescue teams have prevented further loss of life. Authorities have advised the public to stay away from affected regions until the situation is fully under control.
