Trump Moves Against Media Outlets Critical of Him

WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump has escalated his battle with the press, directing federal regulators to take action against media organizations that he claims are unfairly targeting him. The president has urged the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to review and potentially revoke the broadcast licenses of outlets that criticize his administration.

According to White House insiders, Trump has also instructed his legal team to pursue lawsuits against The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal, seeking damages over what he describes as “deliberate misinformation campaigns.”

The president’s remarks, made during a press exchange earlier this week, also included a pointed warning to late-night comedy hosts. Trump suggested that satirical programs, including two widely watched NBC shows, could face suspension for their recurring mockery of his leadership.

The aggressive stance has drawn immediate backlash on Capitol Hill. Democratic lawmakers announced they are drafting a bill titled the “No Political Enemies Act”, designed to shield journalists and media workers from retaliatory government action and to provide legal assistance to those targeted.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer sharply criticized Trump’s approach, calling it “a direct assault on the Constitution.” He warned that undermining freedom of the press would erode one of the country’s most fundamental democratic safeguards.

Observers note that this latest confrontation underscores the president’s long-running feud with the media, raising fresh concerns over press freedom in the United States.
