In a welcome development, three underage Hindu girls who had mysteriously gone missing from Shahdadpur were found safe and recovered from Karachi, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The girls — Sheena, Jiya, and Diya — had disappeared under unclear circumstances, causing deep concern among their families and the local minority community. Taking urgent notice of the matter, Dr. Lal Chand Ukrani, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Minority Affairs, immediately directed law enforcement agencies to take swift and decisive action.
Dr. Ukrani personally contacted the Inspector General of Police in Sindh and instructed the formation of special teams dedicated to tracing the girls. Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts, police were able to locate and recover the girls safely from Karachi.
Keeping the senior leadership informed, Dr. Ukrani said he immediately reached out to PPP Ladies Wing Central President Faryal Talpur, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, and Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar. The leadership responded by issuing urgent orders to ensure the girls’ safe return, which led to rapid progress on the ground.
The minority community has expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Sindh government and the PPP leadership for their timely and serious response, saying the swift recovery brought great relief during a deeply distressing time.
Speaking on the incident, Dr. Ukrani said such disappearances are a grave violation of human rights and contribute to a growing sense of insecurity among minorities. “This is simply unacceptable in any civilized society,” he stressed. “The protection of all citizens, regardless of their religion, is our moral and constitutional responsibility.”
He made it clear that the matter will not be brushed aside, and that those involved will face strict legal action. Dr. Ukrani also highlighted ongoing efforts by the Sindh government to improve minority safety — including strengthening the Ministry of Minority Affairs and ensuring minority representation in key decision-making processes.
The safe recovery of Sheena, Jiya, and Diya is a moment of relief, but also a powerful reminder of the need for continued vigilance and commitment to the safety and dignity of all communities in Pakistan.
