Islamabad – July 8, 2025
In a welcome move for Pakistanis planning to travel to Europe, Sweden has officially resumed its visa services in Islamabad. The announcement comes just days after high-level diplomatic talks between Pakistan and Sweden in Stockholm.
According to a statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision follows the Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) held on July 2 between officials from both countries. The Pakistani delegation was led by the Additional Foreign Secretary for Europe, while the Swedish side was represented by the Director General for Global Affairs.
“This is a positive step that will make it easier for Pakistani nationals to visit Sweden for short stays,” the ministry said, adding that the move reflects a renewed momentum in diplomatic and people-to-people ties.
Starting July 7, Pakistani passport holders can now apply for Schengen visas for travel to Sweden of up to 90 days, directly from within Pakistan.
While the announcement focuses on short-term visit visas, analysts see it as a sign of improving relations between Islamabad and Stockholm—especially after months of limited consular activity.
Travel agents and visa consultants have also welcomed the news, saying it will revive stalled travel plans for students, business travelers, and tourists alike.
“This resumption not only reopens a crucial European destination for Pakistanis but also signals trust and growing cooperation between the two governments,” said a senior official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
