In the latest twist to a growing storm of controversy, popular YouTuber Rajab Butt has quietly left Pakistan, announcing an indefinite pause from vlogging until he receives permission from his mother to resume — a deeply personal move he says stems from concern for his safety and family.
The digital content creator, who has amassed millions of followers for his vibrant vlogs and day-in-the-life videos, finds himself at the center of backlash over allegations that he disrespected Islamic figures in a recent Muharram vlog. Legal complaints have been filed, and the public discourse around him has grown increasingly heated.
In a TikTok live session earlier this week, Rajab didn’t reveal his exact location but hinted at being overseas by mentioning both Dubai and Pakistan time zones. His demeanor was noticeably subdued compared to his usual on-screen energy. “I’m not quitting vlogging,” he told viewers, “but I will only resume when my mother allows me to. Until then, my focus is on staying safe and protecting my peace.”
A Familiar Pattern, A Different Tone
This isn’t the first time Rajab Butt has left Pakistan during controversy. In a previous instance, he relocated to Dubai for several months before eventually flying to London and later returning to Pakistan after the dust settled on earlier legal troubles. But this time, his tone suggests something deeper — a personal reckoning, a moment of reflection.
According to Butt, it was his mother who insisted on his departure and personally dropped him off at the airport. “She was extremely disturbed by everything happening,” he said. “She’s not just worried about my career — she’s worried about her son’s life.”
Despite stepping back from YouTube, Butt confirmed he would continue to appear on TikTok Live to stay connected with his fans. He reassured followers that a return to content creation is still on the horizon — just not immediately. “I’ve already recorded vlogs explaining everything,” he revealed. “But they won’t go up until the right time comes. Right now, I’m just waiting for things to calm down.”
Defending His Name
The allegations against Butt stem from a particular scene in one of his Muharram-related videos, which some viewers interpreted as disrespectful toward a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The reaction was swift and severe, with calls for legal action and boycotts echoing across social media platforms.
But Rajab maintains that the backlash is largely manufactured — an attempt by opportunists to ride the wave of outrage for personal gain. “People are trying to get clout using my name,” he said. “Those who know me know that I would never intentionally disrespect anyone’s faith.”
He added that he is more than ready to share his side of the story and clarify any misunderstandings — but only when it’s safe and appropriate to do so.
A Mother’s Voice, A Son’s Choice
In an age where content creators often chase views at the expense of personal boundaries, Rajab Butt’s decision to step away — not because of public pressure, but out of respect for his mother’s wishes — offers a rare, human glimpse into the person behind the camera.
“I live for my mother’s dua,” he said near the end of his livestream. “Right now, she hasn’t given me permission, and until she does, I will wait.”
It’s a pause that speaks volumes. Not just about controversy, or fame, or public image — but about values, vulnerability, and the bond between a mother and her son.
