President, PM Hail Pakistan Navy’s Bravery and Legacy

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday paid glowing tributes to the Pakistan Navy, lauding its unwavering role in safeguarding the country’s maritime frontiers and its long history of valor.

In separate messages marking Navy Day on September 8, both leaders recalled how the naval force defended Pakistan against repeated threats from India, particularly during the 1965 war, when the Navy struck deep into enemy waters and etched its name in history.

President Zardari described the day as a moment to honor the daring feats of naval warriors and acknowledge the Navy’s crucial contribution to national security. He saluted the martyrs and ghazis, saying their sacrifices and steadfastness remain a source of pride for the entire nation.
“The courage of our naval heroes continues to strengthen the resolve of Pakistanis everywhere,” he said, recalling how Operation Somnath became a timeless symbol of audacity and skill, inspiring generations of sailors.

The president noted that the Navy has since transformed into a modern, multi-dimensional force whose role extends beyond combat readiness. “From securing vital sea trade routes to participating in global peacekeeping missions and providing disaster relief, the Navy reflects professionalism and an unwavering dedication to the nation,” he added. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, also hailed the Navy’s personnel for their courage, determination, and professionalism. He emphasized that the force’s legacy of bravery goes far beyond the 1965 war, pointing to its enduring role in maintaining the balance of power in the Arabian Sea as evidence of its strategic vision and operational strength.
