WEB DESK: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the launch of new direct flight routes from Islamabad and Lahore to Muscat, as the national flag carrier continues to expand its presence in the Gulf region. The move is part of PIA’s broader strategy to enhance regional connectivity and generate additional revenue amid ongoing efforts to modernize its international operations.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the airline will commence direct flights from Lahore to Muscat on October 29, followed by Islamabad to Muscat flights starting October 30. The routes will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft, offering passengers a comfortable and convenient travel experience.
The spokesperson said the new service aims to strengthen air links between Pakistan and Oman a key destination for both business and leisure travelers, as well as the large Pakistani expatriate community based in Muscat.
“This expansion reflects our commitment to improving connectivity and providing greater travel options for passengers,” the spokesperson added. “The Muscat route is strategically important for us, as it caters to strong travel demand while supporting our broader revenue growth plans.”
Aviation analysts say the new Gulf routes mark a positive step for the airline, which has been actively working to restructure its operations and restore profitability. With Muscat being a popular hub for regional travel, PIA’s expansion is expected to attract consistent passenger traffic and strengthen its footprint in the Middle East aviation market.
The initiative underscores PIA’s renewed focus on operational efficiency and market-driven growth, as the airline seeks to reclaim its position as a competitive international carrier.
