SHANGHAI — Pakistani companies are reporting significant business growth as they continue to make their mark at the China International Import Expo (CIIE), one of the world’s largest trade exhibitions. At the 8th edition of the expo, taking place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, more than 20 Pakistani firms are showcasing a diverse mix of products including traditional handicrafts, marble, carpets, apparel, furniture, and jewelry.
Among the standout participants is WINZA Jewelry, whose CEO Aqeel Chaudhry said the company’s presence at the expo has been a game-changer. “Since we began participating in CIIE, our annual sales have grown by nearly 30% on average. China’s contribution to our total global sales has increased from 20% to over 50% within seven years,” he shared proudly.
The growing confidence of Pakistani exporters in the CIIE platform is evident. According to Pakistan’s Consul General in Shanghai, Shehzad Ahmad Khan, more firms are now investing in larger, customized booths to attract attention and secure stronger positions in the Chinese market. “This trend reflects a clear shift in strategy Pakistani companies are not just participating, they’re competing for visibility and long-term business,” he noted.
The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is also playing a crucial role by supporting small and medium enterprises through a dedicated national pavilion. This support allows emerging brands to connect with Chinese buyers and distributors, opening new doors in one of the world’s most dynamic consumer markets.
The results are already showing on the trade front. During the first quarter of FY2025–26, Pakistan’s exports to China’s Yangtze River Delta region jumped by 21.1% year-on-year, reaching $297 million. Overall bilateral trade during the same period climbed to $2.69 billion a strong indicator that Pakistan’s active participation in CIIE is turning into tangible commercial success.
As the expo continues, optimism among Pakistani exhibitors remains high. For many, the event is not just about sales, but about building partnerships that strengthen Pakistan’s presence in the global market one product, one handshake at a time.
