ISLAMABAD (September 23, 2025): Pakistan has warmly welcomed recent announcements by several countries recognizing the State of Palestine, calling it a historic step toward ensuring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, in a statement shared on social media, praised the decisions of France, the United Kingdom, Canada, and other nations, describing them as a “victory for justice and international law.” He urged more countries to follow suit, reiterating that recognition of Palestine is essential to achieving a durable two-state solution and a just, comprehensive peace.
The Foreign Office confirmed that Dar represented Pakistan at a high-level meeting in New York, jointly hosted by Saudi Arabia and France, where the Palestinian issue was a central focus. Officials noted that the gathering carried greater weight as the wave of recognitions gained momentum internationally.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Pakistan endorsed the New York Declaration on resolving the Palestinian issue, underscoring its longstanding support for a two-state solution. “Pakistan was among the first nations to recognize Palestine in 1988,” the FO spokesperson reminded, “and continues to back Palestine’s bid for full UN membership.”
During the conference, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan described the two-state solution talks as a “historic opportunity” for peace, applauding France’s recognition of Palestine as a significant milestone.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, meanwhile, appealed to the international community to step up support for an independent Palestine. He thanked nations extending recognition and commended the efforts of Saudi Arabia and France in mobilizing broader international consensus.
This wave of recognition, analysts say, highlights a turning point in global diplomacy on the Palestinian question, reflecting growing pressure for a long-overdue resolution to one of the world’s most enduring conflicts.
