Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that Pakistan and Turkiye enjoy a deep-rooted relationship built on mutual respect, fraternity, and unwavering brotherhood a friendship that has stood the test of time.
Speaking at a ceremony in Islamabad held to commemorate Turkiye’s Republic Day, the Prime Minister said that the bond between the two nations goes far beyond diplomacy, describing it as a connection of hearts forged through shared history, values, and sacrifices.
He said Turkiye has always stood shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan in times of adversity whether during wars, natural disasters, or national challenges. “During our difficult times, including wars with India, Turkiye stood by us like a solid rock. That is the true spirit of brotherhood,” he remarked.
Highlighting the Turkish government’s generous support during Pakistan’s devastating floods, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Turkiye’s compassion and solidarity, saying that the people of Pakistan will always remember this friendship.
Shehbaz Sharif further noted that both countries are now deepening their cooperation in economic, strategic, and defence sectors, a partnership that continues to grow stronger with every passing year.
Recalling his recent visit to Turkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Pakistan, the Prime Minister said that the leadership of both countries has pledged to share “each other’s joys and sorrows” and to work together for mutual progress.
He praised modern-day Turkiye as a remarkable example of how a nation can embrace modernity while preserving its rich cultural heritage and traditions. “Today’s Turkiye is a beautiful reflection of progress, faith, and civilization a source of pride not only for its people but for the entire Muslim world,” he concluded.
