Pakistan, Malaysia Move to Strengthen Digital Cooperation at Baku Conference

Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to expand their collaboration in the digital sphere, marking another step forward in their longstanding bilateral partnership. The development came during a meeting between Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Malaysia’s Minister of Communications, Ahmad Fahmi bin Mohamed Fadzil, on the sidelines of the World Telecommunication Development Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, both leaders praised the strong and historic ties between the two countries, noting that their cooperation has continued to evolve in key strategic sectors. Shaza Fatima highlighted that Pakistan’s digital transformation agenda closely mirrors Malaysia’s MyDigital Blueprint, with both nations aspiring to build modern, technology-driven economies capable of competing globally.

She proposed the launch of a dedicated Pakistan–Malaysia Digital Policy Dialogue to institutionalise long-term cooperation. She also underscored the importance of collaboration in talent mobility and advanced skills development, especially in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

According to officials, both sides expressed optimism that deeper engagement in the digital sector would not only strengthen bilateral relations but also create new opportunities for economic growth, innovation, and youth development in both countries.
