Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi Marks Youm-e-Istehsal, Renews Support for Kashmiris

ABU DHABI – August 5, 2025:
To mark the sixth anniversary of India’s controversial move to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi observed Youm-e-Istehsal-Kashmir, reaffirming Islamabad’s enduring commitment to the Kashmiri cause.

The solemn event served as a powerful reminder of Pakistan’s long-standing political, moral, and diplomatic support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), and called on the international community to step up efforts for a just resolution in line with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

While addressing the attendees, Pakistan’s Chargé d’Affaires to the UAE, Mr. Qasim Aziz, strongly condemned India’s actions on August 5, 2019, calling them a direct violation of international law, the UN Charter, and various UNSC resolutions. He expressed deep concern over the worsening human rights situation in the region, citing widespread reports of repression, curfews, mass detentions, and communication blackouts.

“This day marks not only a blatant assault on the identity and rights of Kashmiris, but also a stark reminder of how global norms are being undermined,” said Mr. Aziz. “We urge the international community to rise above geopolitical interests and ensure justice for the people of Kashmir.”

During the event, official messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister were read aloud, all echoing the same sentiment: that the struggle of Kashmiris for self-determination remains central to Pakistan’s foreign policy, and that silence from the global community only emboldens injustice.

The gathering also featured a multimedia presentation documenting the situation in IIOJK since 2019, as well as a moment of silence to honor the victims of state violence.

Embassy officials, members of the Pakistani community, and human rights advocates in the UAE attended the observance, pledging continued solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

As the event concluded, participants voiced hope that persistent international advocacy and awareness efforts would one day pave the way for a peaceful resolution to one of the world’s longest-standing disputes.
