Pakistan and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defense and security ties, marking a renewed effort to enhance mutual understanding and regional stability.
The development came during separate meetings held in Dhaka between Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Muhammad Yunus, along with senior members of the Bangladeshi military leadership.
According to diplomatic sources, the discussions covered a wide range of regional and global issues, with both sides exchanging views on the evolving security environment and the importance of collaboration in addressing emerging challenges.
General Mirza highlighted Pakistan’s deep respect for its long-standing fraternal relationship with Bangladesh, emphasizing the shared desire to build stronger ties based on sovereign equality, mutual trust, and respect. He expressed optimism about broadening defense cooperation, particularly through enhanced military-to-military engagements, training exchanges, and strategic coordination.
During his visit, General Mirza also toured the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with faculty members and students, underscoring the importance of professional development and knowledge-sharing between the two nations’ armed forces.
Bangladesh’s civil and military leadership, in turn, commended the professionalism and operational excellence of the Pakistan Armed Forces, acknowledging their sacrifices and achievements in the fight against terrorism.
Observers see these interactions as a positive step toward rebuilding confidence and deepening ties between Islamabad and Dhaka two nations bound by history and shared regional interests.
