ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Jordan on Saturday strengthened their bilateral partnership by signing a series of agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in media, culture, and education. The signing ceremony, held in Islamabad, was witnessed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Jordan’s King Abdullah II during the monarch’s official visit.
A total of four key documents were exchanged, including a new Programme for Cultural Cooperation and an MoU establishing Chairs of Urdu and Pakistan Studies at the University of Jordan. Two additional agreements were finalised between Pakistan Television Corporation, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, and the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation, marking a significant step toward deeper collaboration between the state broadcasters of both countries.
On Pakistan’s behalf, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, along with federal ministers Attaullah Tarar and Dr. Musadik Malik, formally exchanged the MoUs. Representing Jordan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi signed and exchanged the documents.
Officials described the agreements as an important milestone in strengthening cultural and educational ties, as well as enhancing media cooperation between the two nations.
