Nasla Tower Plot Set for Auction to Compensate Affected Allottees

KARACHI: The land where the illegal Nasla Tower once stood on Shahrah-e-Faisal is now being auctioned, as per Supreme Court orders, to compensate those who were allotted units in the demolished building, ARY News reported.

The Official Assignee of the Sindh High Court has issued a public notice in newspapers, calling for sealed bids for the auction of this commercial plot.

The tower was demolished in November 2021 after the Supreme Court declared its construction illegal.

Interested buyers have until September 4, 2025, to submit sealed bids. The reserve price for the 780-square-yard plot is set at Rs. 811.2 million.

The plot holds commercial status, with permission for constructing a basement plus ground and nine floors. Bidders are required to include 25% of their offered amount via pay order with their application.

The plot will be sold on the same day to the highest bidder meeting or exceeding the reserve price.

The Supreme Court previously ruled that the proceeds of the auction must go toward compensating the Nasla Tower’s affected allottees.

Investigations by police and the anti-corruption department uncovered that the Board of Revenue Sindh’s registration wing subleased the tower without a completion certificate, allegedly in exchange for Rs. 20 million.

In light of this, the anti-corruption team has requested official records from the registration office.

The main accused in the case — including Manzoor Qadir Kaka and Khair Muhammad Dahri — have secured bail from the Sindh High Court, although the case itself was registered on the orders of the Supreme Court.
