ISLAMABAD — Sher Afzal Marwat, expelled from PTI in February this year, appears to be on the verge of returning as party members rally behind him.
During a PTI parliamentary party meeting, several members expressed support for Marwat’s reinstatement. The matter will be presented to PTI founder Imran Khan for a final decision.
Former speaker Asad Qaiser said: “The authority to decide rests with Imran. The parliamentary committee’s recommendation will be submitted to him.”
Members Usama Mehla, Khurram Virk, and Nisar Jatt backed Marwat’s return. His earlier expulsion followed Imran Khan’s orders, reportedly over Marwat’s conduct at a rally in Swabi.
At the meeting, MNA Shandana Gulzar criticised the absence of action against PTI leaders Shahbaz Gill and Shehzad Akbar, who have made statements against K-P CM Ali Amin Gandapur.
