Karachi – September 2025: A tragic accident near Jail Chowrangi claimed the life of a 45-year-old woman on Saturday after her burqa became entangled in the chain of a motorcycle.
Rescue officials identified the victim as Shazia, who fell to the ground when her garment suddenly got caught in the bike’s chain, causing her to lose balance. She died instantly at the scene.
Her body was later shifted to Jinnah Hospital for legal formalities. Police said preliminary investigations confirm the accident was caused by the burqa getting tangled in the motorcycle’s moving parts.
Eyewitnesses described the moment as sudden and shocking. “The cloth got stuck, and within seconds she fell onto the road,” one bystander recounted.
Police officials added that further investigation is underway, while the incident has once again highlighted the dangers of loose clothing while riding motorcycles.
