Tokyo – September 2025: Pakistan’s javelin throw sensation Arshad Nadeem has promised to return stronger after falling short of a medal at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, citing injury struggles that limited his performance.
In a heartfelt message to fans on Thursday, the 27-year-old Olympian expressed gratitude for the nation’s unwavering support despite his below-par outing in the men’s javelin final.
“Dear Pakistanis, I am grateful for your love and encouragement throughout the championship. Though I could not deliver the result we all wanted, I am proud to have represented Pakistan on the world stage,” he shared on X. “I have been carrying an injury since early July which affected my training and fitness, but I gave it my best.”
Nadeem managed throws of 82.73m and 82.75m, along with two fouls, falling short of the top-eight cut required for further attempts. His exit also meant Pakistan’s medal hopes ended in Tokyo. Still, he assured supporters that the setback was only temporary.
“I know this result was disappointing, but I promise to come back stronger and keep fighting for Pakistan,” he added.
On the championship front, Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott captured gold with a throw of 88.16m his first major international title since winning Olympic gold in 2012. Grenada’s Anderson Peters earned silver with 87.38m, while Curtis Thompson of the USA secured bronze at 86.67m, marking America’s first men’s javelin medal in nearly two decades.
India’s defending Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra also endured a frustrating evening, finishing eighth with a best of 84.03m. However, his compatriot Sachin Yadav impressed with a personal best of 86.27m to claim fourth place, narrowly missing the podium.
For Arshad Nadeem, the Tokyo disappointment may just be the spark that fuels a stronger return on the global stage.
