KARACHI – June 21, 2025: In a landmark move to promote tourism and create recreational spaces for Karachiites, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab inaugurated the city’s first-ever beach resort—The Cove Beach Resort—at Hawk’s Bay on Friday.
Built in just three months through a public-private partnership, the resort is now officially open to the public and offers a range of modern amenities designed to give visitors a world-class beach experience, right here at home.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mayor Wahab said, “Karachi residents no longer need to fly to Thailand or Malaysia for an exclusive beach getaway. We now have a resort with international-level facilities right here in our city.”
He described the launch as a major milestone for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and a step toward reshaping the city’s leisure and tourism landscape. “This is just the beginning,” he added, hinting at future plans to develop similar beach resorts in Malir and Ibrahim Hyderi. “If the public supports us, we’ll keep growing this initiative.”
The Cove Beach Resort isn’t just about leisure. According to Wahab, the project also aims to promote beach sports and create new job opportunities. “Our goal is to offer affordable recreation. You don’t need a visa or plane ticket—just book online and enjoy,” he said.
The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, City Council leaders, and other local officials. Wahab also reiterated his administration’s broader vision for Karachi, which includes cleaning stormwater drains, preserving historical landmarks, and even launching a mangrove conservation park.
He emphasized the need to reshape Karachi’s image. “Despite the many challenges, Karachi remains Pakistan’s industrial and economic heart. Coastal cities across the world have become global tourism leaders—and Karachi has the same potential.”
With the opening of The Cove Beach Resort, Karachi takes a bold and exciting step toward redefining its coastline and offering its citizens a refreshing, world-class escape—just a short drive away.
