Karachi: Citizen Shot Dead While Resisting Robbery at Home

KARACHI – Armed robberies and shootings continue to plague the city, with yet another tragic incident reported in Gulshan-e-Hadeed where a man was killed for resisting a robbery at his home.

According to police, the victim, identified as Rao Javed, was gunned down by intruders who stormed his house. Family members said the suspects held them hostage before fleeing with mobile phones, jewelry, and cash. The victim’s body was shifted to a nearby hospital, while police teams have launched an investigation into the case.

In a separate development, law enforcement officials arrested three men near Dhoraji for allegedly demanding Rs. 30 million in extortion from a cloth merchant. Police said the suspects were taken into custody during an operation and further questioning is underway.

Meanwhile, in Korangi Sector 36G, a citizen displayed remarkable courage when he overpowered two armed robbers. According to police, the man knocked the suspects off their motorcycle, snatched a pistol from them, and opened fire. One suspect was killed on the spot, while his accomplice managed to escape.

The city also witnessed several other shooting incidents on the same day. In Nazimabad No. 3, a man named Zubair was shot dead in what police said did not appear to be a robbery attempt, as nothing was taken from him. In Shershah, an unidentified man was killed by gunfire, while another citizen was targeted in Landhi.

Police officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing in all cases, adding that initial findings suggest not all incidents were linked to robbery attempts.
