Karachi braces for hot and breezy day

The Pakistan Meteorological Department shared its weather report for Karachi on Thursday June 19 predicting warm, sticky, and cloudy conditions in the city.

They expect highs to hit anywhere from 34°C to 36°C and lows to stay around 29°C to 31°C.

Morning humidity might range from 70 to 80 percent, while the evening could see it drop to 55 to 65 percent. This stickiness will make the heat feel sharper.

The forecast also mentions gusty winds in southern Sindh. Winds blowing in from the west and southwest will prevail all day.

In other news, Anjum Nazir Zaigham, the Deputy Director at the PMD shared that the monsoon rains of 2025 are likely to begin in Karachi next week.

The Meteorological Department stated that some northern and western parts of Karachi could see light rain or drizzle. Meanwhile most areas in Sindh are still experiencing hot and sticky weather.

Karachi enjoyed a refreshing shift in weather as short rain spells were noticed in places like Surjani Town, New Karachi, and Gulshan-e-Maymar. Orangi Town and Baldia Town also saw light rain, while thunderclouds hovered above.

Rain might keep falling in the city as part of the pre-monsoon wet spell, a weather official shared. Showers are also expected in Khuzdar and Lasbela districts in Balochistan.

Karachi Mithi, Umar Kot, Thatta, Badin, Mirpur Khas, Dadu, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, and other districts in Sindh may see cloudy skies today.

The Met Office mentioned that strong winds, gusts, and rain with thunderstorms could hit some regions, with chances of heavy rain in a few spots. The official explained that rising heat in the northern areas is speeding up glacier melting, which is helping raise river water levels.
