Karachi Braces for Heavy Rains and Gusty Winds Amid Low-Pressure System

KARACHI — Residents of Karachi have been advised to prepare for heavy rainfall and strong winds as a low-pressure system intensifies over the region, the Meteorological Department said on Wednesday.

According to the Met Office, while the city’s weather is expected to remain generally clear and humid, spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms are likely today and tomorrow. Certain parts of the city may also witness heavy downpours.

At present, winds are blowing from the northeast at 11 kilometers per hour, with humidity levels recorded at 74 percent. The minimum temperature in Karachi was measured at 26.4°C, while the maximum could rise to around 36°C.

The Met Department further cautioned that unstable weather patterns are expected nationwide over the coming days. From October 3 to 6, parts of Punjab and Islamabad are likely to experience rain and hailstorms. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, wet weather is forecast to continue until October 7, with isolated incidents of strong winds and hail.

Meanwhile, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan could receive rainfall today, with the possibility of snowfall in Kashmir between October 4 and 7. Balochistan is also expected to see rain and thunderstorms from October 4 to 6.

Authorities have urged citizens to stay updated with weather advisories, warning that heavy showers combined with gusty winds may lead to urban flooding and traffic disruptions in Karachi and other vulnerable regions.
