Iran Lauds Pakistan’s Unwavering Support Amid Regional Tensions

ISLAMABAD – July 1, 2025: Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Raza Amiri Moghaddam, has praised Pakistan’s firm and proactive support during the recent escalation in the Middle East, calling it unmatched among all Muslim nations.

In an interview with a private news channel on Monday, the ambassador said Pakistan played a leading role in standing with Iran — not just symbolically, but through concrete diplomatic and political support at key global forums.

“Among all brotherly countries, Pakistan stood out,” Dr. Amiri said. “Its government, people, and media showed unity and solidarity with Iran at a time of crisis. From the UN Security Council to the IAEA Board of Governors, Pakistan’s voice was loud and clear in our favor. We deeply appreciate this.”

He added that both Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence extended full cooperation throughout the tense period. In contrast, he noted, India remained silent and did not express any support for Iran, adding that New Delhi’s alignment with the U.S. and its close relationship with Israel shaped its approach.

Dr. Amiri also acknowledged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for taking what he described as a “stronger-than-usual” stance against Israeli aggression, saying this time the OIC’s condemnation carried more weight than in previous incidents. He also lauded the Arab League and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for voicing their support.

Clarifying Iran’s position, the ambassador reiterated that Tehran’s response was purely defensive.

“This conflict was provoked by Israel. Our response was measured and necessary. The losses they suffered may deter them in the short term, but if they believe they can gain the upper hand, they will not hesitate to reignite hostilities,” he warned.

Dr. Amiri went on to highlight the role of global allies, thanking China, Russia, Pakistan, Algeria, and Türkiye for backing Iran diplomatically at the United Nations. He emphasized that such support sends a strong signal that Iran is not alone on the world stage.

“This solidarity, especially from Pakistan, reinforces the deep bond between our nations. It’s not just about diplomacy — it’s about shared values, mutual respect, and a vision for regional stability.”
