Hammad Azhar Reportedly Goes into Hiding Again Amid Legal Uncertainty

Lahore – July 31, 2025:
Just days after briefly resurfacing following the death of his father, veteran politician Mian Muhammad Azhar, senior PTI leader and Punjab’s acting president Hammad Azhar has reportedly gone off the radar once more — this time to avoid potential arrest.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Azhar vanished from the public eye shortly after a police team conducted a raid at his residence two days ago. The move came despite earlier reports suggesting he had been preparing to turn himself in and file for pre-arrest bail.

Last Friday, several media outlets had reported that the former federal minister was in the final stages of legal consultations and was planning to appear before a court voluntarily. Close aides had indicated that Azhar was ready to face the legal process, even if that meant going to jail should the court deny him bail.

However, the recent developments appear to have shifted that course. Law enforcement’s sudden interest in his arrest seems to have prompted a re-evaluation of his strategy, leading to his renewed disappearance.

Azhar’s brief reappearance last week had sparked speculation that he might attempt a political comeback or at least resolve the legal cases pending against him. His decision to go into hiding again has reignited conversations within political circles about the PTI’s leadership vacuum in Punjab and the broader legal pressures facing the party’s top brass.

At the time of this writing, there has been no official statement from Hammad Azhar or his legal team. Police sources, meanwhile, confirm that they are actively seeking his whereabouts.
