Govt to Offer Rs. 10 Per Unit Power Relief for Industries and Farmers

In a major step to support the country’s productive sectors, the government is preparing to roll out a substantial relief package that will slash electricity prices for industries and farmers by over Rs. 10 per unit, reliable sources told.

The three-year package, set to take effect from November 1, 2025, will continue until October 31, 2028, offering discounted electricity rates on additional power usage. The initiative aims to encourage higher industrial output and greater efficiency in production while easing the cost burden on the agricultural sector.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to officially unveil the plan on Thursday. According to officials familiar with the development, the government hopes this move will reduce production costs, boost exports, and improve overall business competitiveness.

“The reduction in power tariffs is not just about relief it’s about restoring momentum in the economy,” an official source explained, noting that affordable energy remains a key factor in sustaining industrial growth and enhancing Pakistan’s global competitiveness.

The initiative reflects the government’s broader economic strategy to stimulate industrial activity, strengthen export potential, and create a more sustainable path for economic expansion.
