NARAN — A German tourist who went missing while hiking in the picturesque mountains of Naran was safely rescued late Wednesday night, thanks to the swift efforts of the Mansehra police and local volunteers.
According to officials, the woman had set out on a hike around 5 PM, climbing a hill near her hotel and reaching the top within an hour. Attempting to continue toward another peak, she lost track of a safe route back. As darkness fell, she took shelter in a shepherd’s cabin, choosing to wait rather than risk descending in the dark.
Rescue teams, guided by torchlight, eventually located her and brought her back safely. A video of the tourist expressing gratitude to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has since gone viral on social media.
“I am amazed by the effort people made to find me. I feel very sorry for the trouble I caused. It was never my intention to create a problem,” she said, adding that she had planned to return by 6:30 PM but circumstances forced her to stay longer.
Police officials praised the coordination between law enforcement and local volunteers, crediting their teamwork and commitment to ensuring the safety of tourists in the region. The incident has been widely appreciated online as an example of the hospitality and professionalism of Pakistani authorities.
