In a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties, Pakistan and Bahrain have set an ambitious target of boosting trade to $1 billion within the next three years. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced this milestone during his official visit to Manama, Bahrain’s capital.
During the visit, PM Shehbaz held high-level meetings with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to discuss ways to expand cooperation across multiple sectors. The discussions highlighted areas such as information technology, food security, construction, renewable energy, and port infrastructure to improve trade efficiency.
The leaders also explored defense collaboration and cybersecurity, acknowledging their growing importance in today’s interconnected world. Regional developments, including the situation in Gaza, were also discussed, reflecting the shared concern of both nations on international matters.
In recognition of Pakistan’s strong partnership with Bahrain, PM Shehbaz Sharif was honored with Bahrain’s highest civilian award, the Order of Bahrain (First Class). The gesture underscores the mutual respect and long-standing friendship between the two countries.
Officials emphasized people-to-people connections as a key pillar for strengthening ties, alongside economic and security collaboration. The visit is being viewed as a major step toward expanding trade, deepening partnerships, and opening new opportunities for growth in various sectors, ultimately benefiting citizens of both nations.
