Cricketer Taimur Ali Moves Court Over World Cup Snub

Karachi – Dera Murad Jamali cricketer Taimur Ali has taken his case to the Sindh High Court, challenging the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over his omission from the national squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

According to his counsel, Taimur Ali is one of the country’s leading first-class performers, yet despite consistent domestic achievements, his name was excluded from the World Cup lineup. The lawyer argued that several players selected for the tournament had far inferior records compared to the petitioner.

The court was informed that Taimur had already filed an appeal under Section 37 of the PCB rules, alleging discrimination, but the Board has yet to respond or issue a ruling on his plea.

During the proceedings, Justice Adnan Iqbal raised a key question: whether the Sindh High Court had the jurisdiction to hear such a petition against the PCB. In response, the petitioner’s lawyer cited precedents, pointing out that higher courts had previously entertained petitions filed by former Test cricketer Danish Kaneria. The bench directed the counsel to produce copies of Supreme Court rulings related to such cases before proceeding further. Subsequently, the court adjourned the hearing for two days
