Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited the Qasim Bela Flood Relief Camp in Multan, where she spent time with flood-affected families, especially children and women. She distributed chocolates, biscuits, and school uniforms among the children and even helped some of them put on their shoes. Clothes and other gifts were also handed over to the women.
During her visit, Maryam Nawaz interacted with the children, asked them questions, and checked their knowledge of alphabets. She listened to the concerns of affected families and assured them that the government would take all necessary steps to restore their homes.
She expressed satisfaction with the cleanliness and overall arrangements in the tents. She also reviewed the health, rescue, and service counters set up at the camp. Commissioner Multan Aamir Karim and Deputy Commissioner Waseem Sindhu briefed her about the ongoing rehabilitation efforts. She instructed the administration to ensure that food, milk, and other essentials were provided to the children.
On her directives, PERA Force teams were also dispatched to the camps. They reviewed the arrangements, served meals, and checked the quality of food and drinks being supplied. PERA personnel also rescued livestock stranded in floodwaters and shifted them to safety. One family praised the team for carrying their sick child out of the water to safety.
PERA vehicles were deployed to move victims to safer locations and to help them recover their belongings. Using boats, the teams actively rescued people stranded in flood torrents, while announcements were made on loudspeakers to ensure timely evacuation.
