OKARA — The Christian community in Okara came together on Sunday to hold a one-day prayer festival dedicated to Pakistan’s peace, stability, and prosperity, with heartfelt prayers also offered for the country’s armed forces.
The event, led by Pastor Anwar Fazal, drew a large number of participants, including district administration officials, bishops, pastors, and members of the local Christian community, according to a press release.
Addressing the gathering, Pastor Anwar Fazal spoke passionately about national unity and interfaith harmony, saying that Pakistan belongs equally to all its citizens. He reaffirmed that the Christian community stands shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Army in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and future.
“If any adversary dares to challenge our homeland, we will stand beside our armed forces and make every sacrifice necessary to protect Pakistan,” he declared to loud applause from the attendees.
Pastor Fazal also reflected on the sacrifices made by the country’s martyrs, calling their devotion “the foundation of our freedom.” He urged the public to strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, compassion, and service, describing these as the true pillars of Pakistan’s resilience.
He further encouraged the Christian community to take practical steps of solidarity, particularly in supporting flood-affected families still struggling to rebuild their lives.
“This is the time for us to come forward not as Christians or Muslims, but as Pakistanis to help one another in every possible way,” he emphasized.
The festival concluded with collective prayers for national unity, peace, and the continued progress of Pakistan, marking a powerful display of faith and patriotism from the Christian community.
