Changan Increases Car Prices Across Entire Lineup Amid Budget-Driven Cost Surge

July 1, 2025 — Karachi

In response to sweeping fiscal changes introduced in the federal budget 2025–26, Changan Pakistan has officially announced a price hike across its entire vehicle range, effective from July 1.

The revision, which impacts all variants from compact sedans to multi-seat crossovers, comes as the auto industry grapples with fresh regulatory pressures — most notably the newly imposed NEV (New Energy Vehicle) adoption levy, which ranges between 1% and 3% depending on engine capacity.

Updated Price List (Effective July 1, 2025):

Model Old Price (PKR) New Price (PKR) Increase
Oshan X7
Comfort (7 Seater) 8,299,000 8,474,000 +175,000
FS (5 Seater) 8,949,000 9,149,000 +200,000
FS (7 Seater) 9,099,000 9,299,000 +200,000
Alsvin
MT Comfort 4,099,000 4,189,000 +90,000
Lumiere 4,799,000 4,899,000 +100,000
Lumiere Black Edition 4,899,000 4,999,000 +100,000
Karvaan
Power Plus 1.2 3,199,000 3,249,000 +50,000
Sherpa
Power 1.2 2,304,000 2,349,000 +45,000

While price hikes have become an all-too-common trend in recent years, this latest increase is tied directly to macroeconomic reforms. The NEV levy introduced in the new budget is aimed at pushing the market toward cleaner, energy-efficient vehicles — but it has also added a significant cost burden for manufacturers of traditional combustion engine models.

Changan is not alone in adjusting prices; other automakers are expected to follow suit in the coming days, though some brands may opt to absorb part of the increase. In Changan’s case, the company has passed on the additional cost to consumers, citing unavoidable operational expenses and compliance with the new tax structure.

Industry analysts warn that while the government’s push toward sustainability is commendable, the immediate impact on affordability may slow down sales in the already strained auto sector. Consumers are now faced with difficult choices, especially as inflation continues to weigh on household budgets.

With the new prices now in effect, buyers planning to purchase Changan vehicles this summer may want to reassess their timing — or brace for further market shifts in the months ahead.
