The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) president, Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, appreciated the work of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab and the Sindh Government in keeping the city clean through Eid ul Adha.
Bilwani stated in a press release that the swift removal of animal remains and garbage across Karachi made the city more hygienic and gave residents a more pleasant holiday experience.
He also highlighted the efforts of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB). Bilwani said their teamwork stood out and mentioned that sanitation workers and rapid response teams deserved acknowledgment for working day and night.
“This year, the city stayed clean with no major complaints from any district,” Bilwani said. He called it a big step forward from earlier years when piles of Eid waste caused health problems and bad odors.
He praised pre-Eid efforts to spread awareness and the use of extra manpower and machines in all seven districts of Karachi. He also highlighted how tools like technology, helplines, and social media helped address public issues.
Bilwani stressed the need to continue this teamwork even after Eid to tackle ongoing challenges like water shortages, drainage problems illegal structures, and traffic issues.
He promised KCCI’s backing to efforts that improve Karachi’s civic conditions. He also stated cleanliness is a basic right needed to maintain a healthy business environment.
Bilwani ended by urging efforts to improve urban governance. He also emphasized the business community’s dedication to developing Karachi as the backbone of Pakistan’s economy.
