Islamabad – July 31, 2025:
In a significant legal development, an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has issued arrest warrants for 50 prominent leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in connection with the Karachi Police Station Company case.
The hearing took place at the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), presided over by Judge Abul Hasanat Zulqarnain, who ordered the issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants for several top-tier party figures.
Among those named in the warrant list are notable political personalities, including Aleema Khanum, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Hammad Azhar, Kanwal Shauzab, Shahid Khattak, Shandana Gulzar, Sher Afzal Marwat, and former President Dr. Arif Alvi.
The court’s order also targets other senior figures such as Seemabia Tahir, Mashal Yousafzai, Senator Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed Khan, Abdul Qayyum Niazi, Nadia Khattak, Omar Tanveer Butt, and Afaq Alvi.
Legal action is also being pursued against well-known PTI affiliates including Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hassan, Murad Saeed, Zulfi Bukhari, Raja Basharat, Ahmad Khan Niazi, Sardar Mansoor Saleem, Col. (Retd) Shabbir Awan, Saddam Tareen, Rashid Hafeez, Khadija Shah, Alia Hamza, Umair Niazi, Pir Noorul Haq Qadri, and Khurram Sher Zaman.
The extensive list continues with senior party stalwarts such as former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, Omar Amin Gandapur, Atif Khan, Shahram Tarakai, Omar Ayub Khan, Zartaj Gul, Junaid Akbar, Jamshed Dasti, Senator Azam Swati, Hamid Raza, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Salar Khan Kakar, Sohail Afridi, Ajmal Sabir, Dr. Nisar Jatt, Shoaib Shaheen, Syed Ali Bukhari, and Abdul Latif Chitrali.
The exact charges have not been fully disclosed, but sources say the warrants relate to allegations under anti-terrorism laws, possibly tied to events following political protests and unrest.
The development marks another blow to PTI, which has been facing a widening crackdown since last year. Party officials have yet to issue a formal response to the court’s latest move.
