America Reaffirms Support for Pakistan’s Counterterrorism Efforts

ISLAMABAD – The United States has once again acknowledged Pakistan’s significant achievements in the fight against terrorism, reaffirming its commitment to work closely with Islamabad in eliminating extremist threats.

The recognition came during a fresh round of counterterrorism dialogue held in the federal capital, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Special Secretary Nabil Munir and US Acting Coordinator for Counterterrorism Gregory D. Lugerfoo. Both sides pledged to intensify efforts to eradicate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

According to a joint statement, Washington commended Pakistan’s “remarkable successes” in safeguarding regional and global peace, while also underscoring the need for stronger, more coordinated strategies against militant outfits, including the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), ISIS-Khorasan, and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The US side expressed condolences over the loss of civilians and security personnel in recent attacks, and condemned high-profile incidents such as the bombings targeting the Jaffar Express and a school bus in Khuzdar.

Pakistan’s Foreign Office noted that both countries agreed to bolster their institutional frameworks, expand operational capabilities, and take practical steps to counter terrorists’ growing use of advanced technologies.

The two nations further committed to maintaining regular contact through bilateral channels and at multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, to ensure sustained cooperation against shared security challenges.
