Urban Flooding Likely in Twin Cities, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Lahore

The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has warned that urban flooding is expected within the next 24 hours in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Lahore.

According to Wednesday’s daily FFC report, an exceptionally high flood wave is expected in the River Chenab at Marala and downstream, while the Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala will remain in exceptionally high flood due to water releases from Indian reservoirs.

The Chenab at Panjnad is expected to reach very high flood levels between Thursday and Friday, while the Indus River at Guddu is likely to experience very high flood from September 6–7.

Currently, the Indus is at medium flood at Guddu (steady condition), the Chenab is at very high flood at Marala–Khanki with a rising trend, the Ravi is at medium flood at Jassar, and the Sutlej remains at exceptionally high flood at Ganda Singh Wala.
