HUBCO Green Expands EV Charging Network in Pakistan’s Major Cities

HUBCO Green (Private) Limited (HGL), a subsidiary of Hub Power Holdings Limited (HPHL), has launched eight Direct Current (DC) fast-charging stations across Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, with more installations planned as part of a nationwide rollout. This expansion is in collaboration with Pakistan State Oil (PSO), PARCO Gunvor, and Attock Petroleum Limited (APL).

The development was shared in HUBCO’s director’s report on Wednesday. It noted: “HGL has operationalised eight DC fast chargers cumulatively in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, and further installations are underway at various locations.”

In April, APL signed an agreement with HUBCO Green to set up and promote EV charging facilities at selected APL stations across Pakistan. Earlier in January, HUBCO Green had inaugurated its first charging station at Ocean Mall, Karachi. The company has plans to establish a reliable EV charging network nationwide, including motorways, highways, major cities, and destination charging spots at upscale malls and commercial centres.

In February, HUBCO also announced its collaboration with PSO for setting up charging infrastructure at PSO stations nationwide.

Beyond EV charging, HUBCO is expanding into the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market through its subsidiary, Mega Motor Company (MMCPL), which is the official partner of BYD in Pakistan. In February, MMCPL introduced Pakistan’s first plug-in hybrid pickup, the BYD Shark 6, which has received strong market response.

“As the global auto sector shifts toward electric mobility, HPHL, through MMCPL, is committed to seizing opportunities in new energy markets and enabling sustainable transport,” the report added.

Currently, HUBCO directly and indirectly operates multiple power plants with a total installed capacity of 2,289 MW.
