KARACHI — Police in Orangi Town have arrested a man accused of killing his former son-in-law in what investigators believe was an “honor-related” shooting.
According to officials, the incident took place late Thursday night, leaving one person dead and six others injured. The main suspect, identified as Anwar, was apprehended shortly after the attack, and a case has been registered at Orangi Town Police Station on charges of murder and attempted murder.
The victim, Ahsan, had divorced Anwar’s daughter, Misbah, just two months ago. Despite the separation, police said Ahsan continued to visit his ex-wife’s residence. On the night of the shooting, Ahsan was at Misbah’s home with his friend Saad when the accused allegedly opened fire around 10 p.m.
Ahsan died on the spot, while Saad, Misbah, and several others sustained injuries during the gunfire. Authorities say initial investigations suggest the killing was linked to “honor,” though further inquiries are ongoing.
Police officials confirmed that the weapon used in the attack has been recovered, and statements from injured witnesses are being recorded as part of the investigation.
