5 health centers and 3 medical points sit within 1,000 meters of the marked evacuation areas.
The United Nations said on Wednesday that over 680,000 Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes in Gaza over the last three months as Israeli military actions grow more aggressive.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric shared at a press conference that the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported on Tuesday about a fresh displacement order issued by Israeli authorities. This new order impacts hundreds of families living in the Khan Younis and Deir al-Balah regions.
Dujarric pointed out that five main healthcare centers and three medical points sit within a 1,000-meter range of the marked evacuation areas.
OCHA stated that the expanded displacement zone now covers three more square kilometers. This increase means that over 82 percent of Gaza is now affected by displacement orders or classified as Israeli-militarized zones.
The forced displacement of people has sped up . In the last 30 days alone nearly 250,000 individuals have been pushed to leave their homes, as reported by the UN.
Since October 2023, Israel’s intense military campaign in Gaza has led to more than 55,600 Palestinian deaths, most of whom are women and children.
In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. They face accusations of war crimes and crimes against humanity connected to the Gaza conflict.
Israel is also being tried at the International Court of Justice for allegations of genocide related to its military operations in Gaza.
Aid sites still targeted
Gaza’s civil defence agency said Israeli fire killed at least 33 people, including 11 civilians who were waiting in line to receive humanitarian aid, on June 18.
Spokesman Mahmud Bassal reported that over 100 others were injured during the attack near a food distribution site in central Gaza.
The Israeli military stated its soldiers fired warning shots after noticing “a group of suspicious individuals” in the area. They reported no knowledge of injuries.
The event happened as Gaza faced extreme shortages of water, food, and fuel. Israel’s blockade has stayed unchanged since March.
That same day, the civil defence agency reported 19 deaths in three Israeli airstrikes. These strikes hit homes and a tent housing displaced families.
According to the military, these strikes were meant to weaken Hamas’ military strength.
Bassal shared reports of three casualties from an Israeli airstrike in an area northeast of Gaza City.
This report followed an attack on Tuesday near an aid center in Khan Yunis, which had caused the deaths of at least 53 people.
