The United Kingdom, alongside 27 other nations, has issued a strong joint statement condemning Israel for what they described as the “inhumane killing of civilians, including children” in Gaza.
The nearly 400-word statement demands an “immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire,” warning that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza has reached an unbearable level. Although it doesn’t mention the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) by name—a project launched with U.S. involvement—it criticizes the current aid model used by Israel, calling it dangerous, destabilizing, and degrading to the dignity of Gaza’s population.
The statement reads: “We condemn the slow trickle of aid and the brutal killing of civilians—many of them children—who are simply trying to access water and food. It’s horrifying that more than 800 Palestinians have died while trying to receive humanitarian assistance.”
The group also calls out Israel’s ongoing restrictions on aid access, labeling the blockade of essential supplies as unacceptable and a clear violation of international humanitarian law. The statement urges Israel to immediately allow the safe and effective work of the UN and humanitarian organizations.
The countries express outrage over Israeli proposals to forcibly relocate Gaza’s population to a so-called “humanitarian city,” a plan former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has compared to setting up a “concentration camp.” Such plans are described as entirely unacceptable.
Additionally, the statement denounces the resurrection of the “E1” settlement project, arguing that it would physically split a potential Palestinian state and flagrantly breach international law—undermining any chance for a two-state solution.
The signatories also highlight a sharp increase in illegal settlement activity across the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and a surge in settler violence, calling for an immediate halt to both.
The message ends with a plea to the international community and all parties involved: “This conflict must end. We call for a permanent ceasefire and strongly support the diplomatic efforts of the U.S., Qatar, and Egypt. We are ready to take further action to help pave the way for peace and security for both Palestinians and Israelis—and the broader region.”
