Two Motorcyclists Killed as Heavy Vehicles Cause Tragic Accidents in Karachi

KARACHI – Two motorcyclists lost their lives and two others were injured in separate road accidents involving heavy vehicles across the city on Saturday, police and rescue officials confirmed.

According to Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi, 37-year-old Sabir Baber was riding his motorcycle when a water bowser (registration number KJF-6195) struck him near Liaquatabad-10 within the jurisdiction of Sharifabad Police Station. He suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival.

The tragic incident sparked outrage among locals, who set the bowser ablaze in protest. Rescue-1122 spokesperson Hassaan Ul Haseeb Khan said the vehicle belonged to a private company and was completely destroyed by the fire. The driver fled the scene before police could reach the area. A nearby trailer (TMP-156) was also damaged by the angry crowd, according to traffic police officials.

In another unfortunate incident, a speeding six-wheeler trailer hit a motorcycle carrying three men on M.M. Alam Road near Malir Cantonment, leaving one dead and two others severely injured. Model Colony SHO Shaukat Awan said all three victims were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where one of them was declared dead.

The SHO, who was reportedly nearby at Model Mor at the time, said he immediately rushed to the site and managed to control the situation. The trailer driver responsible for the crash was arrested. However, the identity of the deceased motorcyclist has not yet been confirmed.

These back-to-back accidents have once again raised serious concerns about the movement of heavy vehicles in Karachi’s residential and busy urban areas, where traffic safety regulations often go unenforced.
