WASHINGTON — Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stark warning to American citizens, claiming taxes could skyrocket by 68% if Congress fails to pass his proposed “Big Beautiful Bill,” which he says is critical to revitalizing the U.S. economy.
Speaking to reporters, Trump touted the bill as a key step in “saving billions” through new tariffs and promised major tax relief if it becomes law. “If the Big Beautiful Bill isn’t passed, your taxes are going up — by 68 percent. That’s a fact,” Trump said. “But once we pass it, tips won’t be taxed, and Social Security will be protected.”
He urged Americans to pressure their representatives in Congress and the Senate to support the legislation, framing it as a necessary move to shield the middle class and American workers from economic harm.
In a wide-ranging discussion, Trump also touched on U.S. military action in the Middle East, claiming American airstrikes in Iran were highly effective. “We completely took out the targets,” he said. “Any media outlet that denies that is spreading fake news.”
Turning to immigration, Trump reiterated his hardline stance, vowing to deport 1 million undocumented immigrants annually if reelected. “We’re going to get them out — especially the criminals,” he said, adding that over 11,000 individuals with murder charges entered the U.S. during President Biden’s tenure.
“We’re not going to let drugs and illegal immigrants pour over our borders anymore,” Trump said. “We’re taking our country back.”
The “Big Beautiful Bill” — which remains light on publicly available details — appears to be part of Trump’s broader 2024 campaign message, combining promises of economic revival with strong border security and a combative stance against traditional media.
As the campaign trail heats up, Trump’s remarks signal a renewed push to energize his base around issues of taxation, immigration, and national security — pillars of his earlier administration and key themes in his effort to return to the White House.
